How to Keep Kids Active During Times of Uncertainty

How do you keep kids motivated to break away from technology and get moving? What are ways to make fitness activities both fun and engaging?

These were just a few of the many challenges expressed by parents during a recent survey by Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE). With the impact of COVID-19, many kids and their families face a new set of challenges, including:

  • Loss of their normal routine and/or a set structure
  • More screen time with delays or cancellations of after-school programs, sporting events and other social activities
  • Less daily social interaction with classmates and friends
  • Higher levels of boredom when stuck at home
  • And more

With the increased overwhelm for both parents and kids alike, Wellbeats joined HPE for a special live webinar to discuss the topic of “How to Keep Kids Active During Times of Uncertainty”.

The webinar was led by Wellbeats Fitness Director Mark Kingsriter, father of 4 overseeing Wellbeats’ fitness direction, philosophy, and execution of on-demand fitness, nutrition, and mindfulness content for all ages. Mark shared the latest insights from the Department of Health and Human Services’ Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans (2nd edition). The science-backed research provides families and kids of all ages with recommendations to improve their health through participation of regular physical activity. Mark also revealed personal stories and tips with his own experience as a father raising 4 boys, now ages 14-23.
